Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the journal template and submitted through the OJS 3 system. The manuscript should be typed in single spacing on A4 paper size with 2.5 cm margins on all sides. The recommended font is Cambria 12 pt.

Articles submitted to JSIM must be original works, not previously published, and not under consideration in other journals.

Article Structure

1. Title Page

The title must be concise, clear, and informative (maximum 20 words). It should reflect the core activity and innovation of the community service program.

Include:

  • Full names of all authors (without academic titles)
  • Institutional affiliations
  • Corresponding author’s email address
  • ORCID ID (if available)

2. Abstract

The abstract must be written in Bahasa Indonesia and English (maximum 250 words each) in a single paragraph. It should contain:

  • Background of the problem
  • Objectives of the community service activity
  • Methods of implementation
  • Main results and outcomes
  • Conclusion

The abstract must not contain references, abbreviations, citations, formulas, or footnotes.

3. Keywords

Provide 3–5 keywords that represent the core concepts of the article.

4. Introduction

The introduction must explain:

  • Background and rationale of the activity
  • Problem identification and needs assessment
  • Objectives of the community service
  • Relevant literature review (minimum 80% primary sources such as journal articles and conference proceedings published within the last 10 years)
  • Previous similar programs and their limitations

Authors must describe the target community profile quantitatively and qualitatively, including socio-economic conditions and local potential.

5. Methods

This section must clearly describe:

  • Approach and implementation stages
  • Participants or target groups
  • Tools, materials, and instruments used
  • Indicators of success
  • Evaluation methods (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods)

The method must allow replication and clearly demonstrate how program effectiveness was measured.

6. Results and Discussion

This section must explain:

  • Description of activities carried out
  • Measured outcomes and impact (social, economic, educational, technological, or environmental)
  • Achievement indicators compared with initial targets
  • Strengths and limitations of the program
  • Sustainability prospects and future development opportunities

Results should be supported by relevant documentation such as tables, graphs, figures, or photographs directly related to the implementation.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be integrated within the manuscript and placed close to their first citation. Each table and figure must be numbered consecutively and provided with a clear title.

Figures must have good resolution and must be relevant to the discussion. Irrelevant documentation will not be accepted.

7. Conclusion

The conclusion should clearly indicate:

  • Main findings
  • Impact and contribution
  • Strengths and weaknesses
  • Recommendations or future development potential

8. Acknowledgment

Acknowledgments should be addressed to funding agencies, institutions, or individuals who significantly contributed to the implementation of the community service program.

9. References

All cited works must be listed in the reference list and vice versa. JSIM uses APA Style (7th Edition). At least 80% of references must be primary sources (journal articles, research reports, or proceedings) published within the last 10 years.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

Additional Requirements

  • Similarity index must not exceed 25%.
  • Articles must demonstrate measurable community impact.
  • Data transparency and ethical clearance (if involving human subjects) must be stated.
  • Authors must complete the copyright and originality statement form.

Article Length

The manuscript should be between 4,000–7,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
